6 Things to Purchase After You’ve Closed On Your New House

Purchase After You’ve Closed On Your New House: Signed, sealed, delivered…it’s yours! Well, we’re talking about the paperwork regarding the new home you just bought. Now that you have a home of your own, maybe it’s time to figure out where to go from here.

We will talk about six different things you should consider purchasing after the closing process is said and done. The keys will be in your hand and you will be greeted by a house that will soon have all your stuff inside. But what if you need something new?

There are so many things that you will need for the house. The six things we’ll list below are your most essential, must-have items that you cannot live without. Let’s get started right now:

  • Home insurance

First and foremost, let’s talk about home insurance. Before you even get all of your furniture through the front door, a disaster could happen. It doesn’t care about timing, and it certainly doesn’t care if the house is occupied or vacant for the moment. That’s why you want to find home insurance that is not just affordable, but also able to cover as much as possible from damage to liabilities should you be brought to court over something.

It is easy to feel as though worst-case-scenarios are remote possibilities – particularly during exciting and busy times, like house moves. Still, we all know how risky this line of thinking is – and the only way to avoid that pitfall is to invest in a strong homeowners insurance policy as soon as possible.

  • Cookware

You want to cook something special during the first night at your house, right? Some pots and pans might be sufficient. You and your family (or housemates) can make a dish that you all can bond over and talk about the future.

What better way to christen the new home with a nice home-cooked meal? Make sure the cookware you order is of good quality and can last you quite a while.

  • Furniture

Depending on your budget, you may want to consider upgrading to a new furniture set. You can even sell your old furniture and put that money toward offsetting the cost of something brand new. Pretty smart, right?

After all, why move in some of the old into the new? You could even get a new bed and give the old one away to someone who may be in need it. If you move into a new house, you might as well consider getting new furniture for the living room, bedroom, or the whole home.

  • Washer/Dryer

Your new house may have newer appliances such as a stove and refrigerator. However, it may not come with things like a washer and dryer. If that’s the case, then purchase a new one for your own.

Most homes should have a washer/dryer hookup that will make things a lot easier. Plus, it will save you a lot of money compared to doing laundry at the downtown laundromat that can get crowded on the weekends.

  • Tools and machinery

By tools, it can be a handy toolbox that you can use for any minor home repairs. Machinery can be a new lawn mower or a snowblower (depending on where you live). Your yard will need to look awesome all the time.

Plus, your house should be in good shape around the clock. If you need to make minor repairs, it would be nice to have a set of tools around so you can be able to fix it up if needed. Otherwise, if it’s a repair beyond your skill set, a professional contractor can get the job done for a reasonable price.

  1. Smoke detectors/security system

Safety and security are paramount for every homeowner. You need to keep your family safe from any dangerous situation at home. Fires can occur even without warning (especially at night while you’re asleep).

For this reason, you want to invest in smoke detectors. Purchase as many as you need depending on the size of the house. They need to be strategically placed in areas such as the kitchen, bedrooms, even the basement.

Also, you may want to consider the idea of purchasing a home security system. For example, you can purchase something like a Ring Camera that you can place outside your front door. With your mobile device, you can be able to see what’s going on outside your home.

Burglaries happen on a regular basis in homes and neighborhoods. It’s important that you protect your house from top to bottom.
