A Simple Guide to Motorized TV Lifts and Systems

Motorized TV Lifts and Systems: Make your home smarter with the use of TV lifts. This guide will help you find the lift that’s best for your home.

These days, more and more homes are being smart. Futuristic apartment blueprints focus on making things more compact so that even the tiniest of places look spacious. Designers are also trying to make homes more tech-smart by introducing various automated mechanics.

An example of this is the use of TV lifts. Here’s everything you need to know about them before making a purchase.

What Is a TV Lift?

From the term itself, it’s easy to guess what these devices are: TV lifts quite literally are mechanical systems that lift or move televisions vertically or horizontally out of cabinets, ceilings, walls, under the bed, or even behind paintings. So long story short, TV lifts are electrically powered TV lifting systems that move your TV monitor according to your preference with the help of a motor.

TV Lift Mechanisms

Motorized TV lifts come in many different mechanisms. How do you find out which one is more suitable for you? You need to take a lot of things into consideration when making your decision.

Think about the style, how compact it is, how much it can store, and also the location of the installment. Also, it’s important to look for a lift that has fail-safe options. That way if your lift gets stuck, or the automated system malfunctions, you will have a manual way to find a fix to your problem.

Let’s look at some of the choices that you can find in the market and what they are ideal for.

Pop-up Mechanism Lifts

Lifts with pop-up mechanisms are by far some of the most convenient and commonly used TV lifts. Since the pop-up system is one of the most popular ways to place your television, you can already tell that it caters to a variety of types and sizes of TVs. It involves a simple working mechanism; the TV is attached to a centrally placed pipe, which helps pop the TV up and out of the compartment at the press of a button.

Although it sounds simple, convenient, and fairly beginner-friendly, this choice of lift requires you to buy separate furniture onto which you have to install it. Therefore, a pop-up lift isn’t necessarily cost-effective but is a little bit more flexible in terms of the kinds of TVs you can use it on.

Downward Mechanism Lifts

Let’s be real: Having your TV magically descend from your ceiling is arguably one of the coolest things to look at. It’ll definitely shock your guests and will also keep your TV away from any dangers at ground level. In addition, it can also help create a movie theater-like experience in your living room!

While drop-down or downward mechanism lifts are fancier, they are also more complicated; this is especially because your TV is hung up by it. You cannot install this on your own, at least when you’re first starting. Consider hiring a professional to get this fixed.

Aside from its tricky installation, the other thing you have to worry about is whether or not you have enough space on (or inside) your ceiling to have this installed. Don’t purchase before checking. Have a professional look at your home before you decide to buy this kind of lift.

Lifts for Walls (Horizontal Lifts)

These kinds of lift systems pull your TV inwards, making it disappear into a cabinet inside your walls. It’s just like finding secret compartments in video games; a seamless panel on the wall is first moved inside to reveal the TV within the wall. Your TV is then pushed outwards until it becomes level with your wall. Like the pop-up system, horizontal lifts or wall panel systems are also flexible and allow you to use it with several television designs.

If you aren’t a fan of the pop-up system, then you can always get this system. You don’t have to worry much about space in this case; as long as you have a large wall in your living room, this will work perfectly for you.

Picture Mechanism Lifts

Picture lifts can be considered to be a more creative spin-off of the wall panel system. Stowing your TV away behind a panel leaves you with an empty wall. This tends to look a little bit odd, given that it’s surrounded by other furnishings. The use of picture lifts can eliminate this problem.

An area is hollowed out inside your wall so that your TV fits into it. After that, all you need is a picture to fit perfectly over your TV. To display your screen, an automated motor will either shift the picture upwards or sideways, depending on the design.

This option is smarter and more decorative than opting for a regular wall panel lift. If you’re someone who likes artwork and wants to make the most out of your wall, then go for this system.

Systems for Smaller Screens

Lift systems aren’t only limited to televisions or bigger flat screens. They can also be used on smaller monitors or for your computer.

Monitor lift systems come installed into a desk. The motor and electrical wirings of the lift are placed in a separate pocket, not attached to the parts that will do the actual lifting. This can be controlled using buttons on the desk. If your screen is in a smaller size, or you want to make a fancy addition to your computer setup, this system will work great for you.

In Conclusion

Undoubtedly, TV lifts are excellent installments. Not only do they allow room for more creativity and space in your house, but it also protects your device from dust, dampness or potential accidents.

In the past, these kinds of things were made specifically for special places, like expensive apartments or hotels. Nowadays, however, there are plenty of design options and systems available, making it much easier for you to find a lift that’s best for your home. Good luck!
