Inspiring interior home design trends for Jan 2021 >> As we settle into 2021 and continue to adjust to our new, remote way of living, many of us are no doubt getting sick of staring at the same four walls in lockdown and could do with a bit of a change. 

Got some more time on your hands during the lockdown, and want to make some changes/updates to your home in 2021 to keep the place feeling fresh and exciting? For inspiration, take a look at this quick list of interior trends that you could choose to follow and implement in your own home.

Smart technology

Potentially as easy as screwing in a lightbulb, smart tech is a simple (albeit sometimes costly) addition to your home that can straight away bring the space into the 21st century. Many people already have the likes of the Amazon Echo speakers in their homes that can be voice-controlled, but you can also connect those devices in a network to smart lighting fixtures, security systems, and even heating. 

Did you know? – Smart technology is no longer just a fad at this point, and many tenants moving into apartments and buildings around cities globally are increasingly expecting these sorts of technologies to be interwoven and part of the facilities from the get-go. Property investment company RWinvest, for example, already have technology-driven functionality in many of their luxury apartment accommodation across cities such as Liverpool and Manchester. If you’re someone who rents out apartments to tenants, you might want to add these sorts of features (if you haven’t already) to help you stand out from the competition.

A splash of paint

When a room feels dated and dreary, the solution that comes to mind can often be a fresh coat of paint. If you have a room in the house that you think could do with a bit of a facelift, then why not roll up your sleeves and give it a fresh lick of paint to change the look and feel right away? If a space feels dark and uninviting, you could opt for a brighter shade, encouraging light in the process. If a room feels too garish, on the other hand, you could opt for something a bit more understated and subdued, using it as a calming space to escape the madness for a moment.

Tip – Feature walls can be a great addition to a room if you want to add some colour and vibrancy without turning a space into a children’s play area. A stark red or blue can be the perfect complement to a room that otherwise comes across as dull and boring. 

Facility rooms

If you fancy undertaking a bit of a larger challenge, overhauling your kitchen or bathroom might be something that you’ve considered in the past, and that you may have a little bit more time to look into now. Looking at the kitchen specifically, not only is this space one of the ones that you spend the most time in for functional use, but it’s also one of the rooms that increases the value of the overall property. This is always a good thing to bear in mind if you’re potentially looking to move out in the future.
